2002 5E44E output shaft speedo gear

2002 5R44E output shaft speedo gear

I am swapping a 5r44e into my 95 Ranger 2wd 3.0 v6 that had a 4r44e. Trans is in but the speedo hole in the rear extension housing is plugged. Does anyone know if I swap the housings is the tail shaft cut with the speedometer gear. Everything else works but was wondering before I just pull the housing Thanks for any info out there.

Well I pulled the tail housing off today and found what I did not want to. The tail shaft is NOT cut for a VSS. Now to decide if just drive w/o a speedometer or find another trans, or get a soft parts kit and swap the interior parts into my
4r44e housing? any ideas out there?
