Greetings. My name is Daniel, and i'm a long time reader here. I've found may helpful things to keep my Ranger running, so thank you.
Project: Install a hood mounted intake.
Details: I want to install an intake system, using a hood scoop or similar device, that replaces the stock intake.
In my mind: I want to mount a hood scoop, somehow adding an air filter and a water separator (for when it rains), and have it mate to the intake at the throttle body or nearby.

Purpose: To remove the air intake line in the engine to make more room; to create a cold air/forced air intake system; to get better performance, fuel mileage, and fording ability.

Let me know what thoughts, ideas, questions or comments you have.
I'm also working on updating my profile with all the stuff i want to do to transform my Ranger.

Thanks!
-Daniel

Unless you are doing it for looks purposes, just get a typical CAI, a scoop is a waste of time.

My buddy has a 96 dakota that he built a ram air setup for, and it doesnt even produce .25 psi on the freeway at cruise (almost no pedal).

Cold air is where your going to get your power, and you dont have to have a hood scoop for cold air...

your best bet is to just put in a CAI or something (PM me, i have the K&N one that needs to be sold)

with a stock engine and such in there, i dont see any reason to put a scoop on, im gonna be putting a scoop on mine, because i need to, the engine sticks out of the hood and open this up (the big opening in my hood will for sure cool the engine bay and will be blowing that fresh air right onto the intake right before the supercharger, hopefully cooling it like 3-5 degrees or something nice)

it might turn out to be way more time and money than you want, for VERY minimal gains..
