A few months ago, I bought a '01 ranger. I have had a problem with water leaking in on the passenger side floor board near the kick panel during heavy rain storms. Through trial and error, I have discovered that the water is leaking in from the hood cowling between the hood and the windshield. When I run water from a hose into the cowling, I get the majority of the drainage out the driver's side cowling drain and very little out of the passenger side. On the inside, the water runs down the heater assembly infront of and behind the kick panel.
I removed the passenger side fender inner plastic liner to gain access to the area where the sheet metal splits at the cowling drain. The flaps at the drain still appeared flexible. I put the open end of the water hose up into the passenger side cowling drain in an attempt to flush out any obstruction. Water flowed into the cowling and out the driver's side drain without a problem. But again when I ran water into the cowling, I still got limited water draining out of the passenger side cowling drain and still had water dripping down the heater assembly.
I am at a loss. Does anyone have a solution??
