Does anyone have the schematic for the 2001 head unit that I can install in my 97 Ranger? It fits perfectly but I can't find any schematics on Internet searches Makes it kind of hard to install. The head unt is the Pioneer 1l2f-18c815-la

You will have to buy a plug from an audio shop that would replace the factory plug on a '01. Tell them that someone stole the radio out of your '01 and cut the plug off. They have these plugs.

Then get a radio install harness for you '97. Splice the '01 reverse plug and the '97 radio install harness.

Then buy a radio install harness for an '01 and install it on your Pioneer harness. Everything will be plug and play.

I did this on my '97 when I installed a '06 CD6.

why not splicing the wires by color and splice the radio ones and wiring it like that:dunno: easier cheaper

Because cutting the factory harness isn't such a good idea. Besides, it isn't as simple as matching colors on the two stock wiring. Ford used different wire colors for the newer ('98+) Rangers with the "world" plug.

his pioneer is aftermarket or the one available to rangers??
