I have a bulb that went out on my 2001 right behind the fuel gauge, and I want to replace it, but it looks like it would be a nightmare.

There is NO way to get to it from underneith

I thought the "bezel" around the inst. cluster was all I needed to take off, but it looks like I might have to take the whole dash off just to get to the instrument cluster.

Has anybody had to do this before?

Is it worse than death? (or just about like going to the dentist?)

Thanks for your help in advance,

John

Again, Welcome John! As I'm not familiar with the dash layout of your model year truck, can't say for sure what needs done, but would believe access behind the instrument cluster could still be done without removing the entire dash. Don't know if you do or not, but for future FYI, turn the dimmer down on your dash lights instead of running full brightness and they will last longer and prevent them from melting to the bulb housing that they are notorious for doing due to the heat.

Good point jeepster, that would also make the dark one not look so dark:icon_thumby:

It looks like the part I thought was just a bezel is actually part of the whole dash.

That is great Aaron, that tells me exactly what I need to do to get in there.

I can probably just move the cluster to one side, and not have to unplug the three plugs in the back.

Thanks for postin that.:icon_thumby:
