Ive been reading on this site for a while now and one of the first thing I found out about 2000 rangers is that the hubs were switched half way through the production year. So I nervously went out to my truck and took the cap off the rim and saw that I had live axles. This is weird because the date on the door sticker says 03/00 which should have PVH hubs. i guess someone before me switched the hubs for live axles? I do have 4w abs

Anyways heres my question. My wheel bearing went bad in my drivers side hub.

can I use a explorer hub from a junk yard or should get a new hub? money is kinda tight so im looking for the cheepest way to fix this.

Also should i change both hubs at the same time or is it ok to change one and not the other?

Yes you should have 4 wheel ABS, I have it on my 99 and the vac hubs(that work! yay), lol Its possible someone swapped out yourfront axle but just from what I like to assume from car commercials the new models are out a few months before the previous year even ends like in october or something.... so you probably got a truck that came factory with a live axle.

Unfortunatly you need the whole assembly with the newer ones... I would say you can get a JY one but you won't know how long it will last, how long its been sitting, ect ect... A new one is preferred I mean hey it should last another 100,000 miles atleast. And yes generally if you replace one you should replace the other as its probably not far behind but you can wait if you need too...

wow the 2000 rangers are kinda confusing. ya i planned on doing both of them anyway. i think ill just buy new ones. im kinda glad that i dont have the pvh's but i would like to have manual hubs.

thanks for all the info man
