I am about to get a Taurus v6 to replace. the guy said only need to change the flywheel, intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pan and maybe a pulley. Is this accurate?

THE 8TH UNIT IN VIN IS "V" AND IT IS A 2000 RANGER.

WHAT YEAR TAURUS WILL REPLACE ENGINE.:icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused:

i know the heads need to be swapped or a new head gasket is def in order you can read more about it in the technical info up top. im going through the same thing rite now looking for a motor. the water passages are different on the fwd taurus and the rwd ranger. so the heads have to be switched and new head gaskets. hope this helps a little

The long block should be the same, with the exception of the head gaskets and lower intake manifolds. The Taurus oil pan fits my 2000 2wd just fine, but I'd probably use the Ranger oil pan just in case.
So, keep your Ranger intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, head gaskets, and oil pan (just to be safe), and you can use any year 3.0 OHV engine from any of the several vehciels that used it.

So, keep your Ranger head gaskets,

I feel the need to point out this is not to be read as take them out and reuse them but go get new ones (head bolts too) and install them.
