what can i do to get more power out of my 2000 2.5 5sp ranger?

The only reasonable reply so far. If it were a 2.3 I would say DEFINATLY start with gears. If you already have 4.10s from the factory you don't want to go much lower than that. Check your gearing. On the tag in the door jamb is a code, In the tech section is a chart to run down the code.
4cyl. motors like Rpms, hence the gear change. It will never be scary fast truck though. It is capable of making more power/torque than a stock 2.9 with the proper mods.

Lower restriction exhaust, throttle cable mod.
