i have a 2000 ranger with the 3.0 flex can i replace the motor with a regular gas 3.0 just changing a few parts also everything i read say i can inly use a 99-01 motor but i found a regular gas 98 cheap and hope it would work any idea would help thanks

also dose anybody know where i can get a part interchange list for my vehicle i need a few other parts and hoped i could find the in the scrapyard thanks again

Firstly, the 2000 has PATS (chipped key) and a 1998 wont, so there's that to contend with. Second, the computers themselves will be different because the FFV is designed to detect and run on ethanol, and if its like mine, it will also have an alcohol sensor in the fuel line. There's other little things to deal with like the fuel lines being different. My 99 FFV has a fuel filter with one in and one out, but my co-worker's 2000FFV has 3 lines connecting to the fuel filter so there seem to be differences between the years in fuel systems as well. Sounds like you'd have a lot of headaches in front of you...

Why are you pulling the 3.0 FFV? If your swapping just cuz, might as well go 4.0, otherwise the regular 3.0 won't really run much differently on gas than the FFV engine does.

I think the 3.0 block changed slightly in 99. They were redesigned for better NVH, but the difference is immaterial. If you swap over all your sensors, intake, and what not, you should be just fine using that 98 engine.

thats mainly what i was asking if the block would work i dont mind changing everything over i can get the motor for 200 with 89000 miles still in the truck running i just have to pull it my self i think ima go for it if nothing else im gonna take video of it running so i can resell it

btw i got the truck with a bad head so being the motor has almost 250000 on it id rather find a cheap replacement
