96-97 uses the vss in the trans/tcase. If you have a 98 donor, there's a chance it'll have the vss there, as 98 was a changeover year...

A side note harbor freight engine hoist is to short to pull the motor with 3inch body lift and 33 inch tires but 2 2x4s and pulling the front tires off did the trick with some carefull pulling and lots of good words and the wife on the quad to drag the hoist through the gravel

Any body have a part number for plug wires with 90*boots for the explorer 5.0s

I don't think those exist, you'd have to build them yourself. There's enough slack that if you got 90* boots you could crimp them on the factory replacement wires. Did you find an XDT2? If not I think I have a spare...

Not yet did some googlin for the plug wires and motorcraft wires and orilie's has a set of 90*boots for 20 bucks so thats the route im gonna go and if you have a ecu we can just trade and each eat the shipping let me know

I am starting on the same swap tomorrow but my mounty is a 99 and the truck is a 00. got lucky and scored the whole mounty for $350 with an exploded front differential and my truck is a 3.0

and 50% sale at the lkq pick your part in blue island next weekend so im off to get transfer case and look for some full width axles buddy saw a few f250s there last weekend so a balljoint 60 wouldnt be to bad same axles as my tow truck the wife keeps telling me no on partin out the 7.3
