I have a 2000 ranger with the 3.0 in the truck . I am wondering if tthe swap to a 4.0 out of a 2000 ranger would be an easy swap or not?

Did you check the tech library? There's a couple 4.0 swap examples that should be helpful.

if ur going to spend the time and money to do an engine swap, swap in a v8.

You should be fine. It should be easy. Just make sure you have the engine harness and computer from the donor. It'll make life easier.

sell your truck, buy one with a 4.0, there are much better things to waste your time on, like drinking beer and thinking about doing something, but then not really doing anything because its easier..unless you plan to swap in a fuel injected 351w, that is something that is worth spending the time on...dont build what you can buy from the factory, build what the factory should have built in the first place!!!

*edit* this is the same as the "what do i need to do to convert my 2wd ranger to 4wd? threads" the awnser is always the same, sell your 2wd and buy a 4wd... same poop different pile..

as long as you have the donor truck with you it'd be easy but I'd recommend going with a 2001 or newer 4.0 cuz the 2001+ is a SOHC and it's got 207hp and the 2000 has an OHV with 160hp

sure, you will need the engine, PCM, wire harness, transmission, radiator...

basically every mechanical and electrical item will need to be swapped over...

As mentioned, you would be better off buying a truck w/ the 4.0.
