hello newbie here!:tease:

I have a 1994 xl ranger with a 3.0L with probialy 240k on it. The clutch has been going and the motor has pretty high milage for me. So i got a 2000 block cause it has the best power. Only problem is the junkyard could only get a flexfuel motor.

So my questions are as follows..
1). Since i have a 94 gasser with a dizzy. I could just swap the majority of everything over and just use the 2000 'block' so to say. Am i right with this or any issues that could arrise?

2). I have the dis igintion setup and all the harness's uncut (how nice junk yard for once!). Is it plausible to use the dis on my truck with the dizzy. Do i need a different ECU, what could be entailed in doing this. I tried a search and didnt find much information this swap.

3). I read that the intake off of the later motor is better for power. Will my throttle cable and other connections work right. (i might as well ask cause ive done other swaps before that didnt work, aka too short)

4). anyone done this and are there any good websites or good info. wiriing diagrams for the FF motor

5). lastly i mgiht as well ask too... Clutches?? ive gone through close to 4 clutches in my driving lifetime with this truck. Which clutch do you guys recommend? ive had a centerforce one that lasted 20k before the weights flew off and the factory PP another time wacked out and just let the disc slip for ever.

thank in advance.. :hottubfun:

make sure the 2000 engine is from a truck, otherwise there is a lot more involved in the swap. Theoretically all 3.0L are interchangeable with the right attention paid to detail. Coolant flow between FWD engines and RWD engines being the most prominent for your situation.

I doubt the DIS will be easily adapted to your truck. I figure it would need EEC and harness changes. Not worth the headache. Just remove the cam sensor and install your old "dizzy"

I'm not versed enough on the intakes to say either way.

Same goes with the clutch. Not because i have not clutch exp, just that the stock clutch in my truck has lasted nearly 60K and it was in there when I got the truck for who know how long. If your clutches are "exploding" just exactly how are you driving this little beast? I give mine nine kinda of hell and it just keeps going. I don't do "neutral drops" though, aka popping the clutch. That will break dampener coils every time. When that happens you will have clutch problems.

i agree with evan on the clutch. theres no reason a stock clutch shouldnt last close to or over 100,000 miles. your doing something it doesnt like.

100k I would only wish haha. I dont drive too crazy, I use my truck for a dailydriver sometimes hauling things. It also had a canopy on it. No neutral drops or burnouts for me.
I geuss ill get a stock clutch from ford and try that again.
