Anyone have experience swapping a 2000 explorer column into a 1990 bronco ii?

As part of my 4.0 SOHC swap, i was thinking of swapping the donor rig's column into my 1990 bronco ii to help with the PATS

Is it a huge song and dance to swap? Or does it go right in? Will i need to swap the dashboard too?-if so, what's involved there?

When I swapped in a 96 dash (because of the wiring issues) I also swapped in the steering column because of the way it connected to the dash. The older 1988 dash would not support the newer steering column and the newer dash would not support the older steering column...so...every thing had to go.

Maybe someone who has done it can elaborate...but the best thing I find is to either take both apart and try to fit the parts or go to a junkyard and spend a day doing it to someone else's junk...

When I had the 92 Ranger and was contemplating swapping the engine\wiring from that I didn't get to the point of actually comparing those parts so I really don't know how they would fit...

JUst a long-winded bump...:)

Wondering if i could use the electrics from the column in such a way that it would satisfy the PATS, without swapping the whole column.

If i had a 2004-newer donor rig, the PCM could be programmed to eliminate PATS, but those have a different version of the 4r55. So then I'd need a 2004 transmission. And since the harness connections are totally different, I'd need a 2004 harness too.

Lots of reasons why i want to figure out how to make this work, that's all

I had almost finished mine when a sudden need for an automatic transmission was unleashed upon my unsuspecting self...result = not worth the added effort after all I went through...I might still try to just drive it with the manual transmission and hope I can manage...

So, yeah, I hear you on wanting to know...and what you have to watch out for...
