what can i do to get more power out of my 2000 2.5 5sp ranger?

The easiest and first modifications you should almost always do are intake and exhaust (CAI or air muffler removal, header, high flow cat, cat-back exhaust, etc.) to help the engine "breathe" more efficiently, then you can start looking at ECU mods (jet chips, etc.), larger cam, head and intake porting, and the list goes on, but if you are really serious about making lots of power yet keeping it driveable I would invest in a t3/t4 turbo setup w/ the LA3 ECU or a PE ECU from the 85 1/2 SVO's. Turbocharging is the only way your going to get V8 power from the 2.3 (without a V8 swap of course) and still be able to use it as a daily driver. Dont get me wrong iv'e seen N/A 2.3's touching 200HP but they are extremely unreliable and not very pleasing to drive on the street. Hope this helps!:icon_hornsup:

The main ways to get power out of this motor have been discussed before. Exhaust and intake generally don't do much, because the most restrictive part of the motor is the head. Mutant Pony could probably give you more info on how to get the most out of the Lima engines.

Don't forget that the 2.5 is just a stroked 2.3Lima, so many of the same parts fit.

This is true, but intake and exhaust are the foundation for other mods, a reworked head wont do much with the restrictive factory intake and exhaust.
