20, 28, or .410 ga?

Near the end of next year, If I can get a deal on a used gun safe I will get a CV USA 28 gauge O/U. I had a red ryder once, maybe mine was old and worn out, but I could hit a squirrel 10-15 times and it wouldn't die, but then again I was maybe 7-8 yrs old.

Those things DOMINATE squirrels. I almost blow red squirrels in half with mine, and I can pick which nut I want to shoot off a squirrel at 100 yards. Only problem is with a rifle you have to wait for the suckers to come down to the ground, I will NOT shoot in the air with one.

Personally, I'd just make light loads for my 12 gauge.

yeah, they do some damage on coons too...thats just what i use hound hunting

Well, I caught a .410 on sale at gunbroker. It's an old Kmart single shot. I had one just like it when I was a teen, but was stolen along with my truck one night. I don't reckon $150 is bad.
I'd get it checked out by a gunsmith to make sure it's safe to shoot, sometimes older guns are deemed dangerous to shoot with today's ammo. Aside from that, enjoy the new gun!

Yea, you need something with a higher velocity, unless you're lucky or something, the Daisy Red Ryder only puts out something like 350 fps. I've shot mice from 2' away at that speed and not killed them unless I used a pellet.

also check out the .17 mach 2, its a wicked little round i use have that in a cz rifle
