Isthere any type of advantage to running the timing advanced and or retarded on the 2.9l?

Also, has anyone used a 3" body lift that came w/ bumper brackets? I need a sketch of the bumper brackets that come with the 3" body lift.

regards,

FYI this is the response I got from PA on the bumper brackets:

"The 832 and 833 body lift kits for the Ranger do not include bumper
brackets. We do not manufacture any bumper brackets for the 1989 -92 model
year Ranger. The bumpers are somewhat "C" shaped and bolt directly to the
ends of the frame. Lifting the bumpers will require too much cutting and
results in some potential liability/safety concerns."

I ran my timing at 12* (stock is 10*) and maybe noticed a bit better throttle response but in the warmer months it started to ping at higher RPMs/loads, that was with 87 octane, 89 or 92 would probably fine. And yes I do not believe anyone makes bumper brackets for 1st/2nd gen rangers or broncoIIs, you'll have to make some or make your own bumper...

Engine coolant temp plays a factor in this too. I was out wheeling yesterday and got the engine a bit warmish trying to climb one hill. Temp was about 225 F and was pinging too much for my taste. Don't ping up to around 200-210 F. I have a Explorer rad in it but I think its a bit plugged.
