Hi all new to the forum and to rangers just picked up a 1986 2.9l 5 speed manual trans. Truck was running great until I washed down the engine compartment. Now randomly it starts to stutter and loses power sounds like it’s not getting fuel doesn’t happen a lot maybe twice on a 11 mile trip to work. I didn’t go crazy slaying everything in the engine bay low pressure hot water around the valve covers and exhaust manifolds due to a ton of crud build up. When it’s not stuttering it runs perfect very smooth no rough idle or anything. Gonna pull it into the shop on lunch and replace fuel filters don’t know which ones I have the canister or inline bought both to make sure. Have wires plugs and distributor cap and rotor on order. Did I possibly get moisture somewhere it shouldn’t have been? Thanks in advance for input

I'm chasing a similar problem. Posting to say I feel your pain and follow along.

Start by pulling codes

Maybe ignition module at the back of the distributor, or other ignition components.
