Hey yall, I have a 1986 Ranger 2.9L. My power steering pump has a weird feature where there's a metal circle around one of the power steering pump lines.
I'm just wondering if there's a special tool for this, or if I'll have to dremel this circle around the line. I don't know if any of you have had issues with something like this, or if this is normal. A lot on this truck has been replaced, so I'm not sure if this is an aftermarket steering column.

I absolutely can't fit a socket or a wrench around this due to the raised circle, just checking if there's a weird tool I need to look for, especially since there's a weird tool for the water pump, which I am also doing right now.

The feature surround the fitting is a plastic sleeve that can be turned and moved to provide access to the fitting.
I used a claw foot and an extension to remove mine.
No Dremel needed.

An example of the claw foot I used.

Exactly what he said. Slide it up on shaft and you’ll be good. Just changed out pump and lines in mine. Make sure you install straight on!! Those things get hard to thread and easy to cross.

Yeah, it’s just a plastic shroud thing. Just get it out of your way. I’ve used regular line wrenches on them.
