2.9l exhaust manifold... part.

1990 Driver's side manifold. Big bolt/cap thing that points forward and has no obvious use. What is that called and can I find one without buying another manifold? 650+ miles from home, it fell out and the truck isn't idling right. No idea what I'm looking for.

That look like a 2in dia bolt? Wouldn't know how the egr is on this one.

yes. i've replaced exhaust manifolds on 460's that came new with these huge caps.

i've assumed it either goes to EGR or AIR injection systems.

they look like pipe caps, i don't know if the threads are tapered pipe threads though.

somebody at a good parts store should be able to tell you, skip past the couple dunces that don't know how to look in a book if the computer says nothing though

or you could check a junkyard, but chances are that those caps are rusted in there tight

Sounds like an EGR port cap. A lot of the early 90s 2.9s didn't have EGR, but the manifolds retained the ports for it because the CARB certified trucks still had to have it.

It's hard to find what looking at without buying another manifold. Money will involve there either you want it or not.

i knew i should've kept my old manifolds.....if you cant find one, go buy some headers. they're cheaper than factory replacements and pacesetter offers a 3 year warranty on theirs
