i have an 87 ranger and an 85 bronco 2. the injectors went out on my 87 with the 2.9. i was wondering if i took the intake and carburator off of the bronco 2 with a 2.8 if it would mount up to the 2.9 to make it carburated to get rid of my injectors.

Intake ports won't line up because the valve order is different.

well since that cant happen do you know anybody that wants a ranger lifted 6 inchs that needs injectors

Why not just buy new injectors. Hell I might have some used ones lying around from my motor swap you could have. I'll have to get back to you in a few days on it though as they are 38 miles away.

What do you mean by 'the injectors went out' exactly? Did every one of them clog or die electrically at the same time? That's incredibly unlikely.

well thank you that would be awsome they are just f ing expense. the cheapest i could find them was 60 bucks a pop

well i got gas up to the fuel rail but i haven't checked after but i can hear both pumps working so thats the only thing i could think of is there somethg else it could be

Please find a mechanic. What you are describing is not at all a condemnation of every injector. All you know at this point is that the fuel rail is pressurized. Obviously, something is keeping the injector banks from being grounded in order to fire. That could be any number of things, e.g. no tach signal to the computer, etc... Perhaps the least likely of all is six individual components failing simultaneously.

really i would have never thought that because it would run with starting fluid so i just took it for granite when i saw i had fuel to the rail

oh yea before it quit i was having problems with my tach it started jumping and not working at all at times

You should be able to grab a Mitchell manual at the library for your 87 and xerox the appropriate no-start troubleshooting sequences. They'll make it relatively straightforward to narrow the problem down precisely.

alright thank you cause i have been at a loss and almost gave up on it

Definitely don't give up on it. You can fix this. Just resist the temptation to replace a part on a guess. With a little time investment, you'll find the right information so you can test the circuit and confirm exactly what's broken rather than throwing parts at it.

yea cause i aint got the money to throw at it and i would really like to get it going

I know how that is. Cheapest option is doing the legwork to learn how to fix it and getting it right the first time - inexpensive, but it can be frustrating. The next best thing is taking it to a decent mechanic and paying the hourly rate for his expertise. The most expensive possible solution is throwing parts at it, because you'll always miss the little things like broken electrical connections which are just as frequently the problem.
