Alright guys I have a 1991 2.9l 4x4 Ford Ranger that I want to swap to a 4.0l. I need to know everything I need to know about this swap and the cheapest way. I do plan on buying a used 1991 4.0 on the web but I need to know if I could still use all my sensors/wires/harness that's already on the 2.9 with the 4.0. Also other information about this swap that you think I should know would be very helpful thanks guys!

No, you cannot use most of the existing sensors or the existing engine harness. The coolant temp sensors can be reused if needed.

The engine harness is quite different, and you need the whole thing, including the headlight sub-harness as it contains the wires going to the ignition control module.
