2.9 to 3.5 stroker

It has merely been suggested that the 4.0 be installed because you are getting the power of this 3.5 stroker in a package that is backed by Ford in parts and reliability.

well ether way. no matter whos opinion i love my 2.9. it is fun as hell to drive. snappy and quick. and sounds wicked also. so i wouldn't do a 4.0 swap. if i wanted one i would have boughten one. and no i wouldn't do the 3.5 stroker ether. but it doesn't mean i would get rid of it.

funny they tell u dont do it but these guys put in the shittier 4.0 why didnt they take a 4.0 I6 out of a jeep. then they ridicule u.:icon_rofl:

You mean the one that has had the cylinder walls honed down so thin from the factory that you can put a drop light down cylinder 1 and see the glow through the wall in cylinder 2? That is MOPAR quality right there baby.

yet those engines are known to be as reliable as 2.3 rangers are.

^^ I agree, the jeep 4.0 ain't bad. And you're not going to see light through a thin piece of tin foil let alone a cylinder wall. :icon_confused:

It's a story I heard from an old MOPAR tech I work with.

Apparently the last few years of the Jeep I6 4.0L had issues with spark knock. When he went down to the training center for a class the instructor said "I'm going to show you why these knock" and then stuck a drop light down cylinder 1, and you could see a glow, not a bright light, but a noticeable glow through the cylinder wall.
