well since te day i got he truck it has been runnign pretty rich no black smoke but you can definately smell it

Is the truck running any codes at all? Misfiring? Have you checked fuel pressure?

Most common problems are the fuel pressure regulator, coolant temp sensor and grounds. Pull the vacuum line off the FPR first, if there's gas in there, replace it.

You can clean the IAT sensor first then reset the computer by disconnecting the battery fo 30 minutes or while you pull and clean the sensor. then run it for 20 minutes at medium speeds to set the new values. It is the intake air temp sensor use rubbing alcohol or electrical cleaner no harsh chemicals. Check the free stuff first like look for vacuum leaks and do you smell fuel out the exhaust or in the engine compartment and If you just bought it give it a good tune up including wires filters and PCV so you can eliminate those variables.
