I have an 87 Ranger w/ a bad engine. So I got an 86 BII to sacrifice for it. I swapped out the engines and am close to finished. I had a few small problems but solved them. The truck will start and idle but has no or little throttle. I noticed @ night the headers glowing red and thought blocked cat.
Well, I eliminated that problem and it seems to have cleared up the blockage and yet still no throttle. So I hooked up a code reader and got 2 codes. Evap voltage too low(which shouldn't matter) and tps sensor out of range. So I switched out the tps with the BII's, to no avail. Could the timing be off a tooth, or could the high pressure fuel pump be not working? I have 40 p.s.i. at the rail, which should be good. I have been non stop on this and need a fresh point of view,or some guys like us who know Rangers.
Com on guys this is probably looking me in the puss and I can't see it! Help, please.
