Hi there. My 88 4x4 2.9 won’t start. beginning of january i had both pumps, and the filter placed. the other night i was going down the road in my truck and it cut off on me. got it towed home and it started up just fine, i checked the ignition switch and it was loose so i fixed it and then it was still running good so i thought i fixed the problem. Today I was letting the truck warm up so i could take trash away and then suddenly it cut off while idling. I would go to cut it back on and sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn’t, sometimes it’d idle for a minute or two then die again. Now when I try to start it I can’t hear my fuel pump kicking on at all and it won’t start at all. I really don’t want to send it to a mechanic because I’d rather save money and fix it myself. What do you guys think is wrong with it and how I can fix it? Thank you

My thoughts to check:
- inertia switch or wiring (located passenger footwell)
- bad fuel pump relay
- bad condensor in ECM
- fuse loose/corroded
- wiring issue to fuel pump

Good luck troubleshooting!

Forgot to come back to the forums and post this, but I solved it. I bypassed the inertia switch by connecting the two wires together but my mistake was that I definitely didn't tighten down the connector tight enough because when I grabbed the wire to check it they came out of the connector very easily. Stupid mistake but now I know (y). Thank you for responding, I appreciate it.
