2.9 in B2

just got myself a B2 and the guy told me the engine had something bad with the heads he wasnt sure exactly what was wrong. so the intake and manafold are off the engine and the distrubutor as well... now i need an oppinion should i got and put it back together to see whats wrong with it or just swap the heads right out with others that i know are good?

Pull the heads and have them Magnafluxed at a machine shop. Take the old head gaskets along just in case.

If you can SEE a crack, don't bother. They are bad.

If they are good, put them back together. And buy a lottery ticket (it ain't very likely....).

I suspect even if they aren't cracked, that you probably need a major valve job including valve guides. It's easily inspected for, very often as part of a Magnaflux.

we dont have a mechine shop anywhere near this area... this is south dakota were lucky to have television... lol

try the local Auto parts store or salvage yard they should be able to at least direct you to or help help you find a machine shop to get this done.

Sometimes these places have shops of their own,but may have to freight them to a bigger store/ city to get it done.

yes... less populated areas tend not to have everything available around the corner
