Hey guys,

ive got an 86 ranger with the 2.9. Truck ran fine, until the tranny went out, which i let sit for a couple months until i pulled it and had it rebuilt. After the trans was rebuilt and the truck was back on the road, it started missing which i found was the ignition module. Changed that and it ran fine and then started missing again. Pulled the #3 plug and the electrode was melted, pulled the heads and the #3 piston had a whole burnt in it. Rebuilt the engine, fired right up the first time. Drove it around easy for maybe 30 mins and it startd missing. Pulled the plugs and found that #2 plug was melted. What could be causing this??

thanks guys

Sounds like a lean condition. I'd check the Fuel pressure to see if that's in check. If that is I'd look at a faulty injector. I'd check all the other plugs too to make sure nothing else is wrong.

Okay thanks... ill check that and see what i can find

wow... don't keep running like that... you'll lose another piston (but you probably already know that... sorry for being dumb)
