hi fellow ,this my first pickup truck that i own, with a rebuilt engine and rebuilt auto trans. new catalic convetor and new oxygen sensor. the engine only has about 10.000 mile on it and about 1000 mile on the trans.

my question is i dont feel that i have a good pickup power at takeoff. i hear the tranny shifting ok .im only getting about 14.5 mile per gallon . i dont know what else to do . i dont want to keep getting ripp off by mechanic shop. i just order a book to see if i have all vaccum hoses were they are suppose to be.

please i need some suggestion . thank you
tommy

Ok if the truck has very low mileage on engine it may not be broken in yet. ? Also the 2.9 doesnt make a lot of power anyways, and is it 4x4?

You took the most important first step by registering on TRS. Between the helpful tips and tech information on this site and the repair manual you are getting, it won't be long before things improve.

Tire size, rear end gear ratio, and the type of driving you do greatly affect mileage and performance. If your truck is basically stock you might want to drive a similar Ranger to see if the performance is much different.
