Ok. I’ve got a 1990 2.9 manual ranger I’m putting a new engine in. The 2.9 I pulled from a 1990 auto ranger has a longer crankshaft that protrudes out and messes up fitment. I figured 90 to 90 wouldn’t be a problem for engine swap… what do I need to look out for in a new engine? Or is there anything I can do to make it work?

Your second pic shows the auto trans flex plate spacer/adapter still in place.

Pull that off, and crank ends should then match. You might need to gently tap it to break it loose.

Use the shorter bolts from the old motor to install the flywheel for the manual trans.

That just pops off with some force?
Theoretically it shouldn’t take force, but yeah, give it a rap or two with a hammer and it should pop off. Note that I said a few raps/taps, not a whale on it with a BFH. They stick on. I encounter that with the 4.0 too, the autos use a spacer that often sticks to the crank. Pop that off and it should be good to go.
