2.9 code 41 problem

i have a 89 ranger super4x4 2.9 auto i had a code 41 hego system lean no voltage. I replaced the o2 sensor and the mileage improved for about 1 week and then went bac to 12 highway and 9 city and started throwing the 41 code. anyone with ideas where to go next would be greatly appreaciated

a good start maybe to remove the sensor and make sure it hasn't rested agaist the exhaust y-pipe and maybe burned through causing a short; just something to ruel out at least. Though it is possible that the sensor itself could be bad
