1) i wanted to change my timing chain and sprockets in my 92 2.9 V-6 and i live in michigan and its the winter time so i work on it little by little do to the extreme cold, and i have come across a slight problem. i dont know how to hold the camshaft timing gear to break the screw loose without breaking or damaging anything.

2) it has around 137,000 miles on it with the original timing chain and all that on it and it runs fine but i have the motor out and i had to do some work and inspections so i figured i would just change it. so im woundering would you change it or leave it be? i would like some people's input on this situation.

3) the new chain set that i have it an S.A Gear set. it was about $20.00 at my local Advanced Auto Parts store. i would put up the part number but there are too many and i dont know which one is which. i dont know if anyone has used this same set but if you have i would really like to know how it worked out cuz it does feel kind of cheaply made. i would appreciate helpful tips and recomendations thank you.

i also have pics if need be so if you need to see it just ask.

Can't say for yours...but , if my memory serves correct....seems like the time gear for the cam had holes in it....with the help of a friend/buddy/helper, I ran the handle end of a breaker bar through one of those holes into a recession and or a frost plug on the block to catch the lip. the Helper, provided the resistance, while I broke loose the bolts.

Or borrow a electric impact gun

you should be able to break it loose with a breaker bar or ratchet if the spark plugs are still in the heads. otherwise youll want to get an impact gun to get the bolt off with. SA gear is a good brand, i would say theyre comparable to Cloyes gear as far as price and quality.
