I have recently purchased an 86 ranger 4x4. the truck has NO air intake whatsoever. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what product will fit without modifications?? i know i could order the factory air cleaner, but i prefer aftermarket. any help would be much appreciated

Not much out there, but I was thinking there was a chrome set up that was close from a passenger car (Neon?)? There is a hole in the core support for fresh air next to the passenger head light, ideally you would want to use this to get fresh air to the engine.

There was also a couple vacuum lines from the old air box to the upper plenum, make sure those taps are plugged as you will have a vacuum leak if they are not.

Also have seen a set up made from steel exhaust tubing and various rubber connectors on my friend's '96 2.3L. Actually made it sound a little throatier.

^ :icon_rofl:

that looks like a great way to cost yourself some ponies :D

im sure you could pick up the stock (cold air) intake froma junkyard for no more than $10. it will be cheaper and perform just as well (and out-perform others).
