2.9 8.8 mini spool?

I have a 1987 Bronco II with a 2.9.

I have a disc brake 8.8 from an explorer. I currently have an open rear end, and I am wanting posi. I am not willing to spend what a lunchbox costs for what is essentially a wear-item, I do not want to redo gears for a full spool, and I want the reversibility that welding does not allow for.
I am not concerned about the tires chirping around corners.

The ONLY issue I have with a mini-spool from my research is that they break, so I am wondering what it takes to make them break. I have a 2.9 liter engine, 8.8" rear, 4.10:1 gear ratios, and 32" tires.

Is this beyond what a mini spool can handle? I would prefer real-world experience, but if theory is all I can find, then bring it on.

I have run the same mini spool in both of my F150's (1990 & 1994) for several years. The 1990 had a 300 I6 manual tranny and the 94 has the auto with a 302 v8. I removed the mini spool from the 90 when it died and put it in the 94. I use the trucks to haul mega loads of firewood out of the woods without issue. Should stand up to that little 2.9 easy. Here is a pic of the 90...loved that truck with the I6!!!

I have a 3.0 with 4.56 gears and a mini spool and haven't had any problems. I also drive it on the street quite a bit. I beat on the truck pretty hard too so you should be fine.

Yes, a 2.9 will not put out enough power to break a mini spool. You must be talking to folks drag racing with huge slicks.
