In the middle of rebuilding our 1985 2.8l. block is in machine shop and in the process of cleaning parts up for its return broke ear off of exhaust manifold removing old studs. Is there any source for headers still available or is the only option building our own?

Build your own. Edlebrock made some smog legal a long time ago. I have managed to find a set like a unicorn rainbow from 2.8 heaven. Aerostar had "short tube" headers but most are long gone too. Get an Aerostar gasket, cut a template and go to town.

Bumping an old thread. Finally picked up a set of 1986 Aerostar headers for the 2.8l. Literally spent years trying to source a pair and finally found a junk yard that had them. Couldn't even find a picture of them on the internet. So these may be the only pictures...

Have them soaking in WD-40 before I clean them up and put them on the engine.

I think they will clean up just fine. No holes in them, just old gasket.

That's cool. Post a couple pics when you get them in.

Will do. It may be awhile. I may start a new thread about this engine build and compile it all together. I still need to rebuild the heads and measure clearances to be sure there is no interferance between the valves and the piston.

A thick head gasket and it'll be fine... LOL
