I was wondering what vacuum advanced distributor(s) I can use for my 2.8 v6. The pinto distributor says it's for a 2.3 4 cyl. I guess I'll need a dura spark ignition module as well, I've been told. I'm running the tfi distributor without the computer and tfi carb so I can't get the timing right, if I get the timing mark right on it won't even start. So I have the timing set back just a little bit. And of course there is a little hesitation when your accelerating then it goes good. Info appreciated..

Obviously the 4 banger distributor wont work, suprised none of you caught that! Slacking.. I found the right distributor, and i'm only gonna use the dura spark module and the 79 pinto distributor, i'm not doing the coil and wires unless I have to. And with a little looking I found the info on here I needed, thanx for no advice

You gotta give people a little time to respond. You posted on thanksgiving, people are going to be busy. I used a dizzy, dspark box and dspark boxing wiring from a 78 pinto with the 2.8. I reused my tfi coil and it ran great.

Wow seriously it's a forum man you have to give it time, plus you posted on a holiday people spend with their families

My concern here is it should have started and idled pretty good at 10 degrees but run like a dog when you give it gas. are you using the pointer or the round thing to time it with? Pre adjust the carb idle air screws out 3 1/2 turns from lightly seated. Time it at exactly 10 degrees with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged vacuum hose. Then connect the vacuum advance to manifold vacuum it should be at 20 degrees at an idle then adjust the idle speed to 700 rpm and adjust the idle air for the highest lean rpm.
