2.8 power improvements

I recently drilled my heads before I installed them. You match up the head gasket to the head, and you will see there`s 2 holes in the gasket that have no hole in the head for cooling water to pass through. You carefully mark these holes and drill a 1/2 inch hole there. The reason for this is the exhaust valves are next to each other on 2 cylinders and it makes a hotspot in the heads, doing this is supposed to help keep that area cooler. There`s a guy on ebay that sells a CD with all kinds of tech on the ranger/bronco IIs including this mod and others but I can`t find his user name there. CD was well worth every penny. If I find the auction, I`ll post a link..

ive got a comp cams one, .428 lift and .260 dur go with it its a hoss of a cam for that 2.8

Where can i find the "pig-tail" between the distributor and the Duraspark ignition box? I have an 85 Bronco II i want to Duraspark. Also, what do i do with all the vacuum to electronic solinoids on the passenger fender? Can i scrap them?

I got mine out of a 84 ranger 4 cyl that is just long enough and plugged right in. the only vacuum you need is the advance on the dizzy, brakes, PCV and power valve everything else can be capped unless you want the air pump and the vapor cannister to work. My passenger side wheelwell has only the start solenoid left and still haven`t yanked the coffee can yet. you can yank all the emission wires also just keep the alternator, oil pressure and water temp wires intact. you can also use the stock coil you just need to splice the green wire from the module to the neg on the coil everything else plugged right in.

Like posted on the 1st page, you can get the pigtail from the OLD FSJeeps ( Grand Waggys, J Trucks, even the mid-80s' CJ's if you can find one in the junkyard. ) Supposedly, NAPA has new harnesses for the F series, but I never checked. As was stated above, you can pretty much throw out every bit of wiring EXCEPT the oil/water senders, the alt, starter, and dizzy. Basically, everything that comes up out of the lower corner on the PASS. side of the engine bay ( the BIG plug/wire bundle ) gets tossed. However, make SURE not to cut/remove the few wires for the heater fan. Just backtrack from the fan motor and the little plug to the right of the fan, and leave those wires.
