Alright ive came along way from before got the wiring harness and everything ready to go putting 2.9 in my 1986 ranger its FI and the 2.8 i took out was carb my donor was a wrecked bronco2 Now my problem is the fuel tank wasnt thinking but i cant use the bronco 2 fuel tank it is way different and was told i need to buy a ranger fuel tank but i think other wise cant i just buy a fuel pump or change the fuel tank ring? i thought i could do that with the bronco2 but the tank is shorter and wouldnt pick up fuel past a quarter tank and the fuel gauge would be wrong. So can i buy a fuel pump and just put it on the original tank or what about a high output inline fuel pump woul like to keep the cost as low as possible but have no idea and a little confused about the whole think what ideas do you all have in mind or can you explain this to me in dumbass terms :-) need some help hoping i can have a response with in a few hours cause i need this info like yesterday thanks you all have helped me out so much and i need one last bit of helps thanks any comments welcome.

what? Punctuation maybe?

fuel tank

can i keep the same fuel tank that fed the carb engine? i have all the fuel lines from bronco2 including motor and tranny already in place what needs to be different on the fuel tank how can i make this work ?

you can use the ranger tank if the hole for the sending unit is the same size as the one in the b2 tank. You could also use the bronco II tank in the ranger but I believe that you need to swap one or both of the cross members supporting the tank.

yea looked at bronco tank is flat and will not fit unless i put it in the spare tire compartment but would have to cut a hole in the fender to let hose out or idk im confused a little but im sure i can just find a ranger with a feul injected tank and swap sending units as long as its the same yr i hear 85-88 tanks all the same size when i come to sending units

Dual tanks came as an option on rangers so it shouldnt be too difficult to do, the rear tank for the dual tank rangers went behind the axle just like a b2 tank does.
