cant remember or not if the 2.3t aluminum valve covers (87-88 tbird and svo style) clear the throttle body on the DP ranger engines or not due to the throttle body?

anyone running one on their stock engine? no clearance issues??

with the dip in the cover of the 87/88 TC I do not see any reason why it should not clear being the stamped steel is the same design

btw . hey stackz

what up man. oh and the cover I'm looking at isnt the one with the dip in the middle. its the one with the two long raised areas streaking down the center to the front where the ford emblem and the TURBOFORD lettering is.

the ones with a dip in the middle are ugly :icon_twisted:

so you want to use a 83-86 TC or SVO mustang or Xr4ti one gotcha

what style one did the ranger come with? I think it was the DIP steel one.. how much clearance do you have?

I run the 83-86 with the short upper (87/88) but with your intake being forthe DP head and either the inline or H style intake you may have to squeeze the VC in there..
measure the distance from the VC to the flange of the TB and I will check the diffrece in the VC for you.

ok, looked at it. I dunno if it'll fit to be honest haha.

its the stamped steel cover with the front raised portion and it has a recess under the throttle body itself. the regular portion around the recess looks like its pretty much flush with the throttlebody opening.

oh well.

get a 1/2" thick chunk of aluminum, take your upper intake manifold off and trace it onto the aluminum, get a piece of paper and trace the inside stuff, match it up real well and drill and otherwise remove all the material and just raise the intake up that 1/2", it'll probably clear then...
