Sorry guy for flip flopping around with this. I have been playing with ideas and trying to figure out what I want and this is 100% it.

I want to do a 2.3l turbo swap.
I have been reading through the tech articles and came across the substitutions for the blocks. Could you use an 88' 2.3l block? I ask this because then the head can be substituted as well, as long as it was an EFI engine.

Thank in advance.

Well Dan, if you haven't already seen this article you might want to read through it...as well as the Turbo forum posts...there is plenty of information on how to do it and what to use...

The big problem about now is finding the actual motor and turbo, PCM, and everything else in working order ready to be bolted in place...

If you have the resources ($$$$$$) anything is possible...

I have read trough that article several times. I didn't realize there was a turbo forum. Thanks mark.

You're welcome Dan...Forced Induction is the proper forum...I've read through a few posts on there when I was considering this direction...it just seemed out of my league due to cost and the fact that I would have to learn a pile of new terms and troubleshooting...

When I was doing the 96 conversion I also considered the turbo approach but it was not a suitable engine for the typical Lima engine parts that we see so many posts on...but still possible since there is pretty good aftermarket support...and a few modification tips and tricks for the DIS applications...

First post in 6 months, it's been a busy frustrating year...

Anyway, the block is the easy part really... the only real benefit of a turbo block is they have the oil drainback port in the side of the block, and I don't know if the coolant port up slightly and just behind that port is there or not on the N/A blocks since I haven't had one in ~7 years... Of course it's easiest to get everything at the same time, but everything is interchangeable... any 2.3L head will bolt on, you can use a '94+ head on a '83 block if you wanted as long as you matched all 3 timing belt pulleys...

Good to see you're still around...I was thinking of you when I saw this post and figured you'd jump right in...not too many guys with good turbo experience on TRS these days but good to know a few still keep tabs on things...still out of my league...:)
