I have a 1997 ranger with 2.3 that i race and the kind of racing i do you are not allowed major engine mods at all. Alot of guys run chips in their vehicles and ive seen alot of companies sell chips for the rangers. Has anyone played with any performance chips or the resistors that splice into your IAT sensor thats suppose to increase HP??? If so what brands work and what results have you guys got from these?? Any help will be appreciated thank you

Ok i mean i figured that they werent at all what the companies crack them up to be however i figured what would it hurt for less then 100 bucks. I saw some as low as around 30 bucks. Do you guys have any suggestions on what really works good on these 2.3s to give me that edge in the races?? Im trying to find an aftermarket header for it.

Use the search feature...

Forced induction is really the only way besides stripping her down and a bunch of other crazy things... A focus had more options for the 2.3. Unfortunately I've a 4 cylinder truck there isn't a lot of power to unleash really.

We race our 2.5 at local oval track and while our rules say no major engine improvments:ie:no cam,no major milling of the block and head, stock weight pistons etc.we can run a header,we have ran a Schoenfeld in the past and also ran a Speedway motors.Right now we are running a stock 97 header that we modified, cut the bell off and are running 3 inch pipe off the back.Seems to work well at the rpm,s we run.The resistors are a waste of time as the ford computors have a tendency to "remember"stock settings and will reverte back there after awhile unless you keep unhooking the battery and really all it does is tell the computor,is that it is a little colder than it really is and dumps in a little more fuel.Where are you racing? Can you post a link or website? Rules?
