I have a 1990 2 wheel drive Ranger with the 2.3 4 banger and the auto tranny, Ive got no oil pressure and want to replace the oil pump can this be done without removing the motor???

Before replacing the pump, you might want to check that the hex drive from the aux/distributor is still functional and turning the pump shaft. I have heard of them shearing or rounding off so the pump is no longer doing its job.
I have not done any pan removal, but understand the engine must be pulled. I think it might depend on which pan you have, cast aluminum or stamped steel.
It might be possible with only a partial pull of the engine, disconnecting the motor mounts and the transmission crossmember mount, and then lifting/sliding the combo up and forward enough to gain access. Kind of a mess. You should get a more definitive answer from others, or the shop manual.

Thanks Tom, good point on the drive, when I picked this truck up the gear drive for the pump was removed so I cleaned it then reinstalled it. I did however notice that when it was running (briefly) the end of the drive with the rubber cap end was turning. my plan is an engine swap from this 2.3 to the 302, so either way im not out anything.
