i have a 1996 for ranger 2.3l scooped it up for $850. when i first got it, it was running okay, just no power and the check engine light was on. checked the codes and it was no power to mass air flow sensor and no power to either of my O2 sensors, naturally, i replaced these and the problem continued. checked the codes with diagnostic tool and found out i have no power (volts) going to any of these, now the truck is idling rough and cuts off when not driving. its a 5 speed manual... any advise? i need help!!!!!

Surely, you've checked fuses?

Take a breath...

The O2 sensor is heated and requires 12 volts... the signal from the O2 requires no voltage to work...not even a 5 volt reference.

The MAF requires a 5 volt reference... this is shared with other sensors. Check your connections... and you need a voltmeter... not a test light.

okay, just completed check, i still have nothing, anything else i can try without taking it to a shop?

*** UPDATE**** cleaned my air idle control valve and the rough idle issue was solved. called original owner and he reluctantly admitted it was flooded out late last year (guess i know where my electrical issues are coming from now, and on a side note, that's a real prick move)
