My Compression level on my #3 cylinder is way low and My Smog Mechanic told me after installing a new EGR valve, Plugs, wires, and distributor cap that it will not pass because the Emission levels are too high and its due to my #3 cylinder. So I picked up the truck and on the way home had the Passenger side Tire blow out on me:pissedoff:. Its been a hell of a day lol.

My Question is I've found a Remanufactured 2.3L Complete for about $600, Will a 2.3L For an 1988-1991 work in my 87' Ranger 4WD ? I figured I can pick this thing up and drop it in and I won't have to worry about any more smog issues.

Your truck is an 87 so the 88-91 will work...only difference you might find is between manual and auto trannies...manual requires the pilot bearing to be installed...
