2.3l 4x4 tranny in 2.9l 4x4

i need a transmission for my 85 ranger and i was wondering if a 2.3 liter 4x4 will hook up to my 2.9liter. i just put the motor in its a brand new jasper 2.9l but used the old tranny like an idiot and tore it out hill climbing. just need to know if the 2.3 tranny will work thanks!

Nope, bolt patterns are different and the 2.3 4x4 trans doesn't have a removable bellhousing. Get a M5OD from a 2.9/4.0 Ranger or an Explorer.
