2.3 wont idle/run for long

upon further thinking, it seems to die when computer attempts to go into close loop mode, MAP disconnected, it stays in open loop mode. time to go see what sensors are used...

new ECM didn't help. still dies after 20 secs. dont know what else to do. Carb conversion time?

ok, hooked old computer up, ran for 20 secs, died, this time it didn't start back up. smelled like raw fuel in the air, pulled dipstick, smells like fuel, broken injector? gona go buy a 1/2in socket extention to pull the plugs to check for fouling. i think i got to many problems. anyone think a bad injector can cause these symptoms?

on a side note, anyone ever stuck a 2.3 4 plug head on a 98-01 2.5 block? how good dose it work? i had an idea of taking a 2.5, swapping heads, carburating, dilling a distributor hole and dura sparking one.

i need help....

ok, im a dumbass for not finding this... the positive wire going to the HP fuel pump was broken off at the terminal only held in by a rubber boot. aparently, it held it inplace good enough to prime the fuel system, but as soon as the car runs and vibrates, the connection is lost... another thing was my dissy cap's points were rusted up bad, cleaned some rust off and its much better. truck runs and drives ok now, time to do some maintenence work on it now its running.

glad to hear, i was thinking electrical problems but they are hard to pinpoint if you arent there. we had a chrysler in the shop that would run great until it got up to operating temp then everything would go crazy. it had been to 5 other shops with no luck, turns out a wiring harness had been miss routed and was over the exhaust manifold and when the motor got hot it heated the harness up enough to bend and short out causing all kinds of problems.

i think the moral to the story is when buying a used car, always recheck the repairs the previous owner says he did. found out that he didn't "replace" the fuel filter thats between the tank and HP pump, he just removed it

truck had that wierd stall issue again, this time it was traced back to the gas tank, jacked the rear up and gave the tank a few wacks, and the fuel pump changed sound and truck ran perfectly. guess ima have to pull the bed and see whats up

funny how we sometimes overlook the obvious, but then again, had i not been told that the fuel pump/filter been changed, i would have probly looked there first... seems like i got this one all figured out now

Lol thats something i always do before i even buy a vehicle, if the owner says they fixed something i look over the repair to see if it was done right, if not i look alot harder for more faulty fixes. Kind of a heads up that the vehicle might be rigged together. but sounds like you didnt get off to bad
