After completing the 2.3 turbo swap on my 1990 ranger, I'm concerned about the turbocharger sitting too close to my ac box and causing it to melt. I used a manifold flip kit to move the turbo forward enough to keep my ac system, but I want to prevent heat soak to the ac box and anything else if I can. The elbow coming off of the turbocharger is only 3 or 4 inches away from my ac box. I haven't really driven the truck that much because of this concern. I've bought some thick fiberglass/aluminum insulation sheets and plan on screwing them onto the ac box but want to know if there is a better solution.

Turbo blanket and wrap the downpipe with DEI pipe wrap.

That'll not only help keep things nice and cool but thanks to Charles law it'll also give you a nice performance boost.

I've been through a couple non A/C heater boxes on mine but I didn't flip the manifold... not even sure where they go to but I think with what is mentioned above and what you already have planned you will likely be fine. When you are moving there isn't enough heat to melt even being 1" away like mine, it's when you stop that there's an issue...
