2.3 turbo project

there is a tuning program that i can get to tune the chip im gonna buy so im gonna be able to tune everything ill start with small boost and i guess from what im reading im might start to build internals but ill still think about if i wanna convert or not

i just have to put my 2 cents worth in here and i am goin to be to the point. if your boost up a stock ranger motor and areoff a tiny bit with your "tune", you are goin to waste the time and money invested from the tuner, turbo, manifold and whatever else you buy for this adventure. i saw you want ot drop a 5.0 in there and that is fine, but if youare going to put $$$ into the truck, just build the 5.o and call it a day. turbo 2.3's need forged pistons...period! so please just do it right or not at all.

Turbo 2.3s can be fun. I had a 300hp turbo coupe.

yeah im having a lot of fun working on this its interesting seeing the different things i can do with the piping i just want it to really come out clean looking in the end

If you could get a hold of a turbo coupe intake you could have the upper intake ported and rotated towards the front of your truck and that would cut down drastically the length of your piping, and it would look cleaner. You really need a BOV. I used a cheap one off of ebay. Sometimes the spring will get weak in the cheap ones, but since they are a greddy knock off, you can get a new greddy spring and your all good for a fraction of the price of a greddy. If you want to see some fast 2.3s check out www.stinger-performance.com.

i do have a BOV i have everything i need im just saving up for a mangement system i think by the time i finish installing the turbo i should be able to afford the management system and ill be good to go

alright its been awhile since Ive been able to do anything to the truck but its time to finish it im just waiting to get my e6 manifold and will finish everything else up and post up more pictures

Why are you saving for "engine management"?

The LA3 is factory and is better than any chip you might find for your 93 ranger computer for Turbo.

Like said above, do it right, or dont do it at all. Its cheap insurance to find a turbo shortblock, and LA3, then its dirt easy to have 302 like power....

That intercooler looks new, but another option is to use an intercooler with both inlet and outlet on the passenger side.

i actually didnt know about a LA3

LB2 is the computer from an 87 auto turbocoupe, LA3 is from the 88 manual turbocoupe.

dang so since my truck is standard i wouldnt be able to use a LB2 correct?
