2.3 to a np435

i've never heard of anyone doing it, why would you want to?

The 435 weighs almost as much as the 2.3! It is really not a very good trans but, It is really hard to break. It doesn't shift easy like the Mazda trannies. The M5OD almost never fails behind a 2.3. Neglect and/or age are the only real causes for failure.

good on gas. it a turbo 2.3. it just shit that i have laying around

I have seen a Richmond 5speed adapted to the back of a ford 2300 so yes, it could be done. It would probably cost more than a good used M5OD though.
You could trade the 435 for an M5OD if you could find the right person.
If this is for the turbofairmont go with a world class t5 or a Tremec. Much easier to bolt in and should hold up fine.
