Hi!! New to the forum. I have a'96 Ranger with a very tired 2.3L manual and thinking of a re-power to 3.0L Any thoughts?

I have never had one, but I notice most people on here with a 3.0 wish they had a different engine in their truck.

I would sooner rebuild your 2.3 or find a later Lima 2.5 if you can. Either would be a lot cheaper than swapping in a 3.0 and increasing the power on a Lima isn't rocket science.

Yeah... classic joke about the 3.0.. fuel efficiency of a 4.0 with all the power of a 2.3

You would have to replace the trans and computer too. And probably some wiring.

Thanks everyone. I'll give the old 2.3 a complete refresh. Really didn't want a lot of changes.

Same power as a 2.3 but uses fuel like a 4.0, pointless swap in my opinion.
