I have a 97 ranger 2.3 that im looking to get some extra power out of. I saw that Jet makes a performance module for these 2.3s. Has anyone used any of these modules?? I have also heard of taking the secondary coil pack and switching wires around so that both plugs fire at the same time instead of one on compression and one on intake. IF this is true has anyone done this and does it really make any difference? Any help would be appreciated. THanks guys

I've never heard of one for the 2.3.can you post a link?

Oh I thought you meant like a tuner...yea that's probably bogus...like most chips of not all...

If you want more power put a set of forged pistons in the engine, then add a turbo, or nitrous.

"chips" don't do anything at all. Seriously a huge waste of money. Such a scam.

Or just a cam for some moderate power...

We have had two chips in the last 4 race trucks. We ran a jet chip in the 94 and while I was not happy with it(I have a tendency to run a high line around the track and not lifting)the guy I sold the first truck to,runs a little different line and likes the way it pulls a little better at rpm,s,around 5000 the timing is advanced a few degrees more than stock. Our new truck,a 98 2.5,we run a chip that we got thur Moates quarterhorse, works good.We had them make us a chip that advances the timing a few degrees more between 5500-6400.Pulls a little harder out of the corners. We have to run premium fuel.Would I get one for the street?I don't think so,for you won't be running up there,no need to run high test gas.For what it cost, not cost effective for the street
